The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course builds on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills; emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. This advanced course highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. ACLS also covers airway management and related pharmacology. ACLS IS REQUIRED FOR PRACTITIONERS WHO ADMINISTER CONSCIOUS SEDATION.
The Physician BLS/ACLS course is a shortened version of those courses. This course is DESIGNED FOR THE EXPERIENCED PHYSICIAN who could potentially use the AHA ACLS guidelines in practice.
The general public will be mailed an ACLS provider manual to keep. For registrations received less than 7 days before the course, the provider manual will be given to participant in class. For Valley Health System employees, ACLS Provider Manuals are available to borrow from The Talent Development Office (Suite 309) at Kraft.
Course Format: 3 hours
The ACLS course does not teach algorithms, ECG rhythm recognition, or pharmacology. Further, this course does not teach how to read and interpret ECGs.
